String Configuration (EG4 6000XP)

Inter-Panel BOS Costs

Balance-of-system costs for rooftop wiring between panels and into the building. All panels come with pre-attached MC4 leads long enough for panel-to-panel series connections — no extension cables needed. Single-string configs don't strictly require overcurrent protection per NEC 690.9(A), but a fuse is included as best practice.

Analysis

Baseline: QCells + IronRidge ($1,686.69)

The Greentech quote bundles 4x QCells 430W panels with IronRidge AIRE A2 professional racking. This is the premium option: UL-listed panels AND racking, engineered wind/snow load ratings, 20-year racking warranty, fire-rated assembly, and zero permitting friction. The QCells panels are a tier-1 manufacturer with bankable warranties. At $0.98/W all-in, this is competitive for a turnkey panels+racking package.

Option A: ECO-WORTHY 100W x16 ($814)

The cheapest option at $0.51/W with Z-brackets. But 16 small panels means 16 sets of MC4 connections, extensive wiring, and ~91 sq ft of roof coverage. Z-brackets flush-mount to the roof, so panels inherit the 30deg pitch — good for Vermont. The sheer number of panels increases points of failure and maintenance burden. Also requires significantly more roof penetrations (64 Z-bracket attachment points vs 12–16 for larger panels).

Option B: ECO-WORTHY 195W Bifacial x8 ($1,116)

The sweet spot. N-Type TOPCon cells at 25% efficiency with bifacial design. Half the panel count of Option A (8 vs 16), so less wiring, fewer connection points, and fewer roof penetrations. Z-brackets flush to the 30deg roof pitch for just $36. At $0.72/W all-in, this undercuts the Greentech quote by $571 while offering newer cell technology (N-Type vs PERC). The tradeoff: no UL listing on panels or racking, 5yr vs 25yr product warranty, and ECO-WORTHY is a budget brand vs QCells tier-1.

Bottom line: Including BOS costs (~$75 for all options), the Greentech QCells package comes to $1,762 ($1.02/W). You're paying ~$571 more than Option B for UL-listed panels and racking, engineered wind/snow ratings, 20-year racking warranty, and tier-1 panel warranties. If budget is the primary driver, Option B (ECO-WORTHY 195W bifacial x8) is the best Amazon alternative at $0.76/W all-in — newer N-Type cell technology, half the panel count of Option A, and $571 cheaper than Baseline. Z-brackets flush-mount to the 30deg roof pitch, which is near-optimal tilt for Vermont latitude.
